About Us

The Link’s mission is dedicated to connecting past, present and future students within Wilfrid Laurier University's School of Business and Economics, the community and internationally by promoting leadership and networking opportunities in a professional manner. The Link strives to create an environment where students can grow on an academic, professional and personal level.

Since its establishment in April 2002, The Link has provided Wilfrid Laurier Business & Economics students the chance to connect and network with future students, past students, and university faculty. Our first event was The Leadership in Business Conference, which allowed university students to teach high school students business skills in a friendly yet competitive environment. Today, The Link has grown into a diverse and unique business organization. The Link executive team consists of creative, energetic and innovative individuals who strive to be a positive influence in their school and communities.

The Link continues to enjoy success year after year. Our Leadership In Business Conference has been incredibly popular over the past ten years, attracting over 750 students from across Ontario and providing over 400 leadership opportunities for current Laurier students. Past themes of the conference have focused specifically on ethics, entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, and an integration of the functional areas of business. In 2010, The Link, in partnership with My City Lives, introduced its first live case for the Leadership in Business Conference. Delegates had the opportunity to offer valuable insight and advice regarding the future of My City Lives.

In 2010, The Link hosted its first Professional Development Conference for current club executives and student leaders at Wilfrid Laurier University. The Link developed workshops, training programs, and guest speakers to help delegates learn and grow outside the classroom. The Professional Development Conference attracts top student executives from Wilfrid Laurier University and is focused on developing the skills and attributes that are essential for student leaders.

In 2008, we held our first annual Steer Your Career event. The event proved a success, as employers were able to meet hundreds of Wilfrid Laurier University Business and Economics students and discuss job opportunities, as well as provide industry insight.

Also in 2008, The Link, in cooperation with Laurier International and the School of Business & Economics, took the Leadership In Business Conference to two schools in China. Chinese students were able to learn hands-on business skills through the guidance of Link executives, while our executives experienced business on a global scale.

As The Link continues to grow, it has developed into a prominent organization within the School of Business and Economics. The Link continues to develop and educate the leaders of tomorrow. Check back often for updates on our brand new initiatives!
