About Us

The Link’s mission is dedicated to connecting past, present and future students within Wilfrid Laurier University School of Business and Economics, the community and internationally by promoting leadership and networking opportunities in a professional manner. The Link strives to create an environment where students can grow on an academic, professional and personal level.

Since its establishment in April 2002, The Link has provided Wilfrid Laurier Business & Economics students the chance to connect and network with future students, past students, and university faculty. Our first event was The Leadership in Business Conference, which allowed university students to teach high school students business skills in a friendly yet competitive environment. Today, The Link has grown into a diverse and unique business organization. The Link executive team consists of creative, energetic and innovative individuals who strive to be a positive influence on their school and communities.

The Link continues to enjoy success year after year. Our Leadership In Business Conference has been incredibly popular over the past seven years, attracting over 600 students from across Ontario and providing over 300 leader-ship opportunities for current Laurier students. Past themes of the conference have focused specifically on ethics, entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, and an integration of the functional areas of business.

In 2006, The Link hosted its first Executive Development Weekend for current and future Link executives. Every year, The Link develops workshops and training programs to help its volunteers learn and grow outside the classroom.

In 2008, we held our first annual Steer Your Career event which allowed us to finally fulfill our mission statement. The event proved a success, employers were able to meet hundreds of Wilfrid Laurier business and economic students and discuss job opportunities, as well as provide industry insight. Also in 2008, The Link, in cooperation with Laurier International, took the Leadership In Business Conference to two universities in China. Chinese students were able to learn hands-on business skills through the guidance of Link executives, while our executives experienced business on a global scale.

As The Link continues to grow, it has developed into a prominent organization within the School of Business and Economics. The Link continues to develop and educate the leaders of tomorrow!
