"The Link Conference enabled me to get a taste of what university life is like in a fun and engaging atmosphere. The contacts I made will be my friends for life and my experiences at the Link Conference were one of the best weekends of my life."
-Robert Matthews, LIBC 2010
“The Link 2010 was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. Not only do you get to meet like-minded individuals but you get a taste of university, which the Link was able to mix together just perfectly. I believe everyone who is interested or has already confirmed their offer of admission to participate in this conference because it’s an unforgettable experience, which will leave you with many great friends and memories. It’s great to be a Laurier Golden Hawk!”
-Thomas Wnuk, LIBC 2010
"Who knew a conference would consist of friends who became family, lessons which expand the borders of a classroom, and finally an unforgettable experience to carry on with you for the rest of your life. Without a doubt The Link was all this and much, much more. For this reason I attended this conference 2 years in a row, and hope to help coordinate it for years to come. This conference and all the admirable individuals who were involved in coordinating it helped me choose my post secondary institution. This is why I am proud to say, I will be part of the Laurier BBA class of 2013!"
-Maryam Aslam, LIBC 2009
"The Link is a vision for opportunities!"
-Lisa Phan, LIBC 2009

2011 LIBC
The 2011 Leadership in Business Conference was HUGE success! Thanks to all of the delegates, volunteers, and special guests for making it such a special weekend for everybody.
In 2011, for the second straight year, students participated in a live business case. What this means is that all case work was focused on a real life situation and prior to the conclusion of the conference, delegates had the opportunity to present their suggestions to the owners of the company.
We were fortunate to have Lynda Fishman attend as the Keynote Speaker at this year's conference. Lynda is the author of the powerful book, Repairing Rainbows.
In addition to a number of Wilfrid Laurier University School of Business & Economics professors, we had some amazing guest speakers such as Trevor Georgie and Evan Thor address our delegates.

What is a Live Business Case?
A live business case is the central focus of the Leadership in Business Conference. As a delegate, you will be faced with a real-life scenario or problem that a company is currently having. Delegates will be responsible for working in teams and communicating a solution and analysis of the case similar to what is expected of students in the Business and Economics Program at Wilfrid Laurier University. On the final day of the conference, the teams who make it to the finals will have the opportunity to present their work to the owners or founders of the company.
A complete history of the Conference cases can be found at the following LINK.
What is the value of a Case Simulation?
As a Delegate, you will gain invaluable experiences and skills including:
- Task oriented skills
- Team work ability
- Fundamental understanding of the functional areas of business
- Confidence and presentation skills
- The ability to think critically and apply theoretical knowledge
The Link guarantees this Business Case Simulation will help prepare High School students for a postsecondary education in the Business or Commerce field.
